S-Type Yew Bitocaster©

This was a project for Kevin Smith using a Yew table that was given to him many years ago as a wedding present.
See the photograph below.
 

The body was taken out of the only part of the Yew plank that was usable for the purpose.
The holes for the leg joints towards the ends are plainly visible.
 

Above is a close up the custom made scratchplate comprising birds-eye Maple veneer on the top, plain maple veneer on the bottom with the centre of the 'sandwich' being single ply cream scratchplate material.
The finish is two pack gloss lacquer which has been flatted and polished to a mirror finish.

The neck-plate was engraved especially for Kevin.

Components

The body was made from a Yew coffee table Kevin supplied which was stripped before the body was made.
The body was wax finished on completion.
The neck which needed quite a bit of work doing on it was of Japanese generic origin and was refinished with two pack lacquer.
The scratchplate was custom made as described above.
The guitar has an ABM bridge, Seymour Duncan & Duncan designed pickups and Gotoh vintage machines.

This was quite an unusual project.
